Pear Blossom Impressions

Pear Blossom Impressions is a photo-art image of pear blossom, created in Impressionist style. The 1,000 piece version should keep you busy for months! Even putting the edge together will take some time. A couple of tree branches provide the anchors around which to construct the puzzle. Well, you have to start somewhere, right? A soothing mixture of greens and yellow, the individual pieces are hard to identify separately. So I think this counts as a jigsaw puzzle challenge, don’t you?

Italian Spring Blossom

Another photo-art image in Impressionist style, Italian Spring Blossom; this time the puzzle is predominantly shades of blue and green. Repetitive shapes and similar color all add to the complexity of the puzzle. As with the puzzle above, the branches provide the anchor points from which to build the image. And again, the limited color range just adds to the level of difficulty.

Indian River Bridge Jigsaw Puzzle In The Box

The puzzle has finally arrived and we are about ready to start…

Indian River Bridge Jigsaw Puzzle Delivered
No, it did not arrive like this – we opened it to show what was inside. LOL

The jigsaw puzzle of our favorite bridge arrived on our doorstep in a Priority Mail Envelope. It took nine days to get here from New Hampshire because of the massive delays caused by pandemic absentees (18,000+ per day) and over a 350% increase in Post Office volume in December. But this appears to have been well worth the wait. So let’s get to work “building the bridge.”

But first, a look at what’s here…

The Puzzle box is large and solid and has an accurate picture of the original photograph on the cover. Here it is compared with a 36″x24″ canvas hanging on our wall.

The box, itself is 12″ wide, 9 1/2″ high and 2″ deep. It is sturdy cardboard, in black, with the actual puzzle image on the cover – it should last a long time. The Puzzle pieces are accurately cut, are solid, well laminated and have a quality image imprinted on them. There were only a few stuck-together pieces. Here we see no more than a few that are stuck together as two pieces.

Indian River Bridge Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces 500

Yes, they are all different shapes. They are printed on premium 0.2″ thick paper/cardboard and have a semi-gloss coating on the printed surface to make the image “pop.” I don’t know how they do it – but they do.

Indian River Bridge Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces Few

Now where is that first “edge” piece so we can get started puzzling?

The next article will (should?) be coming soon. Then you will see images of the Charles W. Cullen Bridge over the Indian River Inlet coming together as a 500 piece, 18″x24″ Jigsaw Puzzle. Yes, it’s near time to build the bridge. Click here for a building the bridge image.

Galaxy Collective in Cobalt Blue Jigsaw Puzzle

From a Bill Swartwout Photography Landscape Scene

The Galaxy Collective is reminiscent of a Spiral Galaxy in our universe – only pictured in the cobalt blue of a local landmark in Coastal Delaware.

Fire Control Tower #3 - Fort Miles Coast Artillery

This jigsaw puzzle is a derivative work created from an existing photograph with the predominant colors being cobalt blue and black. The picture to the right is the original, a rainy night capture of Fort Miles’ Fires Control Tower #3, an artifact of World War II. (Click the picture to learn more about it.)

The abstract spiral was created from FCT #3 in a Delaware State Park near Dewey Beach, Delaware. This concrete World War Two structure is circular and tall and was built to assist in protecting the Delaware Bay from enemy incursion.

FCT #3 is currently being restored as a museum structure and is lighted at night by cobalt blue spotlights. The tower was originally photographed by Bill Swartwout in a swirling rain. The cobalt blue swirl was, hence, derived from the original image keeping only the blue of the tower and the black of the sky. A collection of lights swirling against a black void is, of course, a galaxy, a spiraling collection of stars and, in this instance, in cobalt blue.
